The L Word
That's Lubbock to you.
So I went to Tumbleweed Town for grad student weekend. Here's the weekend in numbers.
- Number of Tumbleweeds sighted
- Number of wineries visited
- Number of margaritas consumed (easier to get than expected)
- Number of PhD students accepted this year into the program. Yes, that includes me.
- Number of slurpees purchased. Seriously, I haven't had them since I was 10.
- Number of wines I sampled at the first winery.
- Price of an entire meal with appetizer and margarita at a local Mexican restaurant
- Number of Starbucks in Lubbock
- Number of hours spent with the HDFS dept on Friday
- Time of the Take Back the Night Walk that I sadly missed
- Time I finished volunteering at the Glam Gala, an event for foster kids to help them get prom dresses, shoes, makeup and hair for the prom
- Number of feminists in the department
- Number of apartments I visted and hated
- Number of houses I could rent for $800/month in a really cute part of town but can't because I have cats
- Number of minutes, literally, it takes to get from one side of town to the other
- Number of prairie dogs I counted in 30 seconds in prairie dog town
That's all the numbers I can do sequentially. Seriously, the campus rocks. I have never seen a school with such resources, particularly at the child development research center. Amazing. more on that later. Must go pick up kitty litter. Such an exciting life I lead in the suburbs
