Good thing I didn't delete this blog

Ok, 3rd post of the day: I can't get Pachelbel's Canon in D out of my head, which is horrendous because I hate the song. It reminds me of taffeta and baby's breath. [shudder]. Of course, it's one of the hardest songs to get out of your head because canons are innately repetitive and wormlike and because this particular canon is embedded in nearly every pop song on the radio, or so says one comic.

Maybe I need to fill my head with one hit wonders. Ok. Here's one. No damnit, that sounds like a canon, too. Ok. um. Walking on Sunshine? Only if it's ala Jack Black. Yeah, that might do it. I needs me a little High Fidelity.

Settle a debate

Ok all you zombie watchers out there, settle an argument for me. Would a hot air balloon be an effective escape vehicle? I claim no because (a) the learning curve on figuring the thing out would cause too much of a delay; (b) even if you had it figured out, it takes awhile to heat up and send the damn thing off anyway; (c) it's freakin open air--open air on a motorcycle is fine but in a slow moving basket, I don't think so. My friends disagree saying that you would store it on a roof or high building and send it off from there, thus zombies would not be able to immediately climb in. I say that I'm gonna be escaping in a much faster vehicle, and they can enjoy hanging around holding hands in a balloon singing Kum ba yah while zombies suck out their brains with a crazy straw.

Stranded at the drive in

Tonight I'm checking off another item on my list of 34 things. #18 go to a drive in movie. I'm gonna see Star Trek (LOVE IT) again double featured with Terminator. I plan to wear pedal pushers, mary janes, and a long scarf around my ponytail for the full effect. Very excited.

As for others I've checked off in the past few weeks: #26 got a pedicure on my 1/2 bday celebration. And I'll be checking off #17--use my backyard for something this weekend for a Memorial Day party. The yard did get mowed by my #33, which allowed me to have this party and to keep my #20--avoid mowing the yard. It counts if someone else mows it, right?

That leaves 18 left to do before November. Not bad. Not bad.

pivot

This morning (er afternoon), I am enjoying a strong cup of coffee while watching the rain melt upon my windows. It is a good day. yesterday, I found out that I received two more scholarships and that my paper was accepted into a national conference. I'll be headed to SF in the fall, one of my favorite places.

It's completely silent in my house (well aside from my cat snoring), and I'm a straining to hear the rain as it falls, but as I mentioned earlier, it's not falling but melting out of the Lubbock sky like goo from one of those chocolate fountains at weddings--a hideous sight until it produces chocolate yumminess. There is no sound, though I know there must be outside perhaps, but here in my sheetrock cocoon, I hear a surreal nothing.

It is a good day.

deliberation

Ok, folks. I'm really not feeling this blog anymore, and while I still plan to be an avid reader of my "Blogs I Read" on the sidebar, I am giving great consideration to signing off.

I'll let you know, bloggy friends.
