The L Word

That's Lubbock to you.

So I went to Tumbleweed Town for grad student weekend. Here's the weekend in numbers.

1- Number of Tumbleweeds sighted
2- Number of wineries visited
3- Number of margaritas consumed (easier to get than expected)
4- Number of PhD students accepted this year into the program. Yes, that includes me.
5- Number of slurpees purchased. Seriously, I haven't had them since I was 10.
6- Number of wines I sampled at the first winery.
7- Price of an entire meal with appetizer and margarita at a local Mexican restaurant
8- Number of Starbucks in Lubbock
9- Number of hours spent with the HDFS dept on Friday
10- Time of the Take Back the Night Walk that I sadly missed
11- Time I finished volunteering at the Glam Gala, an event for foster kids to help them get prom dresses, shoes, makeup and hair for the prom
12- Number of feminists in the department
13- Number of apartments I visted and hated
14- Number of houses I could rent for $800/month in a really cute part of town but can't because I have cats
15- Number of minutes, literally, it takes to get from one side of town to the other
16- Number of prairie dogs I counted in 30 seconds in prairie dog town

That's all the numbers I can do sequentially. Seriously, the campus rocks. I have never seen a school with such resources, particularly at the child development research center. Amazing. more on that later. Must go pick up kitty litter. Such an exciting life I lead in the suburbs

coming soon

The blister pics! I'll post them tonight probably, along with highlights of the Avon Walk.

Too tired to write. 39.3 miles. Camping. Blisters. Ouch.

But I did my part to save the boobies or as I like to call them, Second Base.

Seriously, the blister on my big toe is HUGE!
