The Great Escape

I am in the midst of packing my favorite little duffel bag because Edgy and I are getting out of town. Yes, my friends, it's the first spontaneous road trip this year, and who knows where we'll end up. I'm sure it will have something to do with the Weird Texas book, though I don't plan to visit the creation museum, and I'm avoiding stuffed bugs at all cost. [shiver].
We only have this afternoon and tomorrow because E works for the devil.

We're thinking New Braunfels. It's off season, so that means hiking along the river with no crowds! Of course, NB is only 30 min away from San Antonio, so I may go hang out at Kubrick's bar or search for the long, lost Man Hands.

Whatever we do, we're escaping Pewston, and that's all that matters.

The birthday has started

Start your engines, folks, because the 31st anniversary of Kimday has begun. Tonight, I went to Buca di Beppo with my parents and Edgy. We started with cocktails: manhattan for Edgy, merlot for Dad, iced tea for Mom, and a (can you guess?) raspberry lemondrop martini for me. Antipasti: garlic bread con formaggio. Insalata: caesar. Then we had rigatoni positano and for dessert, cheescake with raspberry sauce and hazelnuts. I was serenaded and was presented with a candelabra (which I blew out in 1 1/2 breaths) and then presented with a ten dollar gift card from the manager. It expires 11/30; anyone want to go?

We left there and went to Roeders to meet up with Jeff, Emily, Mike, and Gordie. Mom had her first Hoegaarden, which she loved.

Presents followed: money from GrandmaCranky; cute striped dishes (excuse for a dinner party); suede placemats and napkins; Pink Panther PJs; a candle to match the dishes perfectly (I love Pier One); and Star Wars III on DVD

I still have one present left, but I'm saving it for tomorrow (or midnight) for my birthday eve gift.

Headed to SA to see Man Hands tomorrow. Psyched. Oh, that reminds me. I have to get the Shot or Dare game put together. :o)

A Grim Grimm

Truly I wasted not only 2 hours of my time watching Brothers Grimm but of Glinda's, Pulchera's, and Edgy's. Terrible movie. It couldn't even qualify for campy--just crap.

The shot of the evening is set for the party on Saturday: Pineapple Upside Down Cake. After a few attempts, I've duplicated the one that Man Hands made for me on my birthday, so we will imbibe in his/her honor. Maybe Glinda will even partake, since it is in honor of the only Brobdingnagian she finds attractive. ;O)

The cocktail of the evening will be a Manhattan, a swanky classic.

On other notes, I got my MP3 player this weekend, so when I ever get the time, I will fill it up. I still need to find time to make Glinda her box set. If I hadn't have wasted 2 hours at the movies today, I might have time to do so. Now I must go grade the most pathetic papers ever written. I'm averaging 5 a night--can't do any more.
